Bishop Gregory Hartmayer has asked the Catholics of the Diocese of Savannah to devote special prayer and attendance at Mass for Pope Benedict XVI between now and February 28, the day he will step down from the Chair of Peter. We pray that his last days in office will be a time of grace and blessing for him personally. We pray as well for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this time of transition.
As a concrete response to this request, I would like to suggest that all members of Nativity of Our Lady Parish say one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be every day between now and February 28th for these intentions.
Also in keeping with our bishop's request, a special votive Mass for the newly elected pope will be announced at the appropriate time.
