The statue was solemnly blessed during Mass on the first Sunday in May, 2013.
The idea is simple. Anybody in the parish can sign up to take the statue home for one week at a time. You pick the statue up at Saturday or Sunday Mass and return it the next weekend. During that time, we ask that your family plan to spend some time in prayer. Of course you can pray about anything you want, but we ask that you always include "the intentions of Nativity parish" in your prayers. Some families use the prayer lists from the Sunday Bulletin or from the daily tweet #prayforoursick as well.
The statue is about 15 inches tall and 3 inches thick (including the niche) and weighs about 3 lbs. It can be stood on a table or hung from a nail on the wall. It comes with a packing box so it is easier to transport.
To take Nativity's Traveling Madonna home, just put your name on the list. Call the parish office any time during office hours or before Mass time.
It is good to pray for one another!
